Why We’re Thankful for Rittenhouse Square
Throughout the years, we’ve welcomed an abundance of guests into the charm of Rittenhouse Square, and each time, we can’t help but share all the ways our neighborhood elevates a stay at The Rittenhouse Hotel. From fine dining experiences this Thanksgiving to historical shops and museums, our beautiful piece of Philadelphia has so much to offer. Here are some of the best parts of our neighborhood that make us feel truly fortunate to be a part of this remarkable community.
Local and Designer Shops
Locals and tourists alike are drawn to the area for its vast array of shops to explore. For those with a penchant for high fashion, Joan Shepp is the go-to destination in Rittenhouse Square. Inside this iconic boutique, you’ll discover the latest collections from renowned designers like Acne Studios, Stella McCartney, and Comme des Garçons.
Dope Botanicals, located in Rittenhouse Square, offers a modern take on herbal wellness. Founded by sisters Nakia and Taahirah, this urban apothecary provides visitors with an array of plant-based wellness products. From tonics and teas to smoothies and drinks, Dope Botanicals invites you to explore the healing properties of nature right in the heart of our neighborhood.
Delicious Fine Dining
Our area boasts an array of exceptional dining options, and we’re delighted to introduce you to a couple of our favorites. Scarpetta, located within our hotel, offers casually elegant Italian fare. The menu features an array of dishes, including seared scallops, creamy polenta, and braised short ribs, as well as Italian classics like spaghetti, foie gras ravioli, and basil gnocchi. Scarpetta showcases the best of local producers through thoughtful Italian cuisine, making it a perfect choice for a delicious, local dining experience.
Likewise, Lacroix boasts an array of international dishes, stunning tastebuds with innovative flavors, and sights with tasteful presentation. For a special holiday treat in Philadelphia, don’t miss the Thanksgiving Brunch on November 23. With multiple buffet stations, small plates, plated entrée choices, and additional holiday dishes, it’s a delightful way to celebrate the season. Secure your tickets for a memorable occasion.
For a nostalgic, holiday experience the whole family can enjoy, join us for our one-of-a-kind Teddy Bear Tea at the Mary Cassatt Tea Room. Little ones can sip on hot chocolate with marshmallows and enjoy a child-friendly menu while listening to harp renditions of holiday classics. The highlight of the afternoon is story time with take-home treats and a brand-new teddy bear to remember the occasion by. Reservations are encouraged and can be made online.
Endless Neighborhood Gems
Our neighborhood is home to the Rosenbach Museum, which holds the private collection of the Rosenbach brothers who were rare book dealers. This museum is a treasure trove of literary history, housing the only surviving copy of Benjamin Franklin’s first Poor Richard’s Almanack and Bram Stoker’s notes for Dracula.
Rittenhouse Square itself is one of the largest and most beautiful parks in Philadelphia. Its picturesque pathways, flower beds, and iconic statues, including the Lion Crushing a Serpent, create a lush and history-rich atmosphere. This scenic square makes our treasured neighborhood one-of-a-kind and we’re thankful to be nestled right in the heart of it.
