Creating Camelot: The Kennedy Photographs of Jacques Lowe
February 13 – September 7, 2015
@ The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia
Philadelphia will offer a full program of events and activities to celebrate the combined President’s Day and Valentine’s Day weekend. While you’re here, you’ll have the chance to immerse yourself in the arts with free museum admissions and festive special events that showcase either our nation’s history or the holiday of hearts.
Stop in at the National Constitution Center for the newest Philadelphia art exhibit opening to the public on Friday, February 13th. You can stroll through Creating Camelot: The Kennedy Photography of Jacques Lowe to see more than 70 iconic images of President John F. Kennedy and his family. Capturing intimate moments and a larger cultural sentiment, this is a classic example of why a picture is worth a thousand words.
As Kennedy’s personal photographer from 1958 and into his 1960s tenure in the White House, Lowe had rare access to this American legend. Now you can get a glimpse of those stolen moments snapped on film. Follow the history of Kennedy’s presidency as his popularity soars, he rises to power and wins re-election. Some photos were shared with the media, others seem like long-lost portraits from the family album.
With a unique interactive feature, visitors can tap into the large touch-screen monitor. View more than 20 original contact sheets edited for magazine and newspaper publication. To learn more about the artist and his relationship with the Kennedys, you can also check out the exhibit’s original film for more information.
